The objective of the special session

In today’s world, Blockchain has been perceived to be a promising technology that has gaining popularity. Being in a digital era, blockchain plays a significant role in bringing changes to digital system services, operations and management. It aims at creating a strong backbone for the internet by allowing digital data to be distributed. The Internet of Things (IoT) helps in connecting a large number of devices to the internet. These devices generate a huge amount of data. Handling a huge amount of data is an important research issue. The existing solutions are based on the cloud, which needs the usage of high-speed networks and high-end servers for providing storage and computation services. But the server maintenance costs, security and trust issues exist in a cloud-based system. This poses the need for new technology to support the IoT frameworks to operate efficiently.

To meet the demands of the future IoT systems, the current centralized architecture is overseen and the decentralized structure is emphasized with the usage of blockchain technique along with cryptographic concepts. However, the application of blockchain will create a variety of complicated problems and new requirements that bring more open challenges for research communities. This special session aims to bring together the latest advances and developments related to blockchain and their utility in the service of smart and automated systems, building an era of blockchain and Internet of Things convergence. Researchers, scholars from both industry and academia are encouraged to present their research findings and achievements in this domain.

Publication

All registered papers will be published in the EAI CORE series as a proceedings book and made available through the European Union Digital Library (EUDL).

Proceedings will be available in the European Union Digital Library, the proceedings are disseminated to an even wider audience by being indexed in ProQuest, CNKI, Google Scholar, and Ei Compendex indexing.

Paper submission

Papers should be submitted through EAI ‘Confy+‘ system, and have to comply with the CORE format (see Author’s kit section).

  • 12-15+ pages in length.
  • Short papers should be 6-11 pages in length.

All conference papers undergo a thorough peer review process prior to the final decision and publication. This process is facilitated by experts in the Technical Program Committee during a dedicated conference period. Standard peer review is enhanced by EAI Community Review which allows EAI members to bid to review specific papers. All review assignments are ultimately decided by the responsible Technical Program Committee Members while the Technical Program Committee Chair is responsible for the final acceptance selection.
